Sound xR: Yamaha's proposal to facilitate the creation of immersive audio
Yamaha presents in ISE 2025 (February 4-7, Fira de Barcelona) its new Sound xR concept, a “realistic” vision to scale immersive sound to all types of environments.
Sound xR is built around technologies Yamaha, Nexo y Steinberg, which provide a series of processes that allow the real and virtual worlds to be “interconnected” both in “the largest live venue” and in “personal headphones.” In the words of Tobias Weich, Director of ProAudio Europe at Yamaha Music Europe: "The Yamaha Group's unique combination of technologies offers a seamless workflow, from content creation to consumption. These new products help deliver immersive audio scalability that no other manufacturer can match."
The solution is part of the Sound xR universe AFC Image for Yamaha DME7 processor, a “fancy” tool for smaller immersive systems that integrates technology Active Field Control (AFC). In parallel, the ProVisionaire software package The company's software improves DME workflow by providing a comprehensive set of accessible tools for system design, operation, control and license management. Yamaha also presents the technology within the framework of ISE 2025 Sound xR Core from Yamaha, which offers precise, high-quality sound localization in virtual spaces.
In the immersive field, Nexus, sister company of Yamaha, launches the DME10, a Dante-equipped 256x256 immersive audio processor that offers up to 128 inputs and 64 outputs of AFC Image object-based mixing, with a new 3D reverb. The DME10 works with TD drivers and Nexo powered and line array speaker systems to create the largest immersive systems. Additionally, system configuration and simulation software NS-1 by NExto It also now includes AFC Design Assistant to define the number, density and placement of speakers, before predicting their performance and audience coverage.
Finally, Yamaha focuses on the Catalan event in Steinberg Nuendo, protocol-compliant audio post-production solution Open Sound Control (OSC), which increases versatility and adaptability to different platforms and configurations.
