The first Madrid Industry Forum closes its doors promoting the professionalization of Spanish female film directors
The Spanish capital witnessed intense professional activity within the framework of the first edition of the Madrid 2025 Industry Forum: Matchmaking Conferences, an event organized by RAMPA – Open Network of Audiovisual Professional Women and the Film Festival for Women Madrid aimed at promoting the professionalization and internationalization of Spanish female film directors.
The public call, open between January 3 and March 2, received 35 proposals in development (work in progress) https://www.plataformarampa.com/industria/foro-industria-madridprovenientes de 8 autonomous communities and 11 provinces, reflecting the diversity and richness of cinema made by women in Spain. The selection committee, made up of Elena Manrique (director and producer), Florencia Caset Alfonso (distributor and producer) and Diego Mas Trelles (director, producer and programmer), evaluated the proposals received and chose 7 finalist projects that covered a wide range of genres: 1 animation, 9 fiction and 25 documentaries.
On Thursday, April 10, the filmmakers responsible for the projects work in progress selected people had the opportunity to present their pitchings with key figures in the film industry, such as sales agents, distributors, production companies and festival programmers, in a professional environment designed to enhance the visibility of their work. The afternoon of April 11, The Forum opened its doors to the public free and open access to attend the master class I have a feature film project… Now what?, aimed at students and emerging professionals in the audiovisual sector. The session, which had great attendance and participation, was taught by the renowned producer Mariela Besuevsky, responsible for notable titles such as The secret of his eyes (Oscar for Best Foreign Film), Sad trompeta song, Tetro by Francis Ford Coppola and several productions for Netflix y RTVE.
The days concluded with the awards ceremony, in which various associations and collaborating companies They awarded a wide range of in-kind prizes to support the development of the selected projects. Ironhuman, Beyond labels (Bego Alday) alzó el premio Music Library & SFX; treachery (Sara Casasnovas), the RC Service; The incredible story of a movie we haven't seen (Claudia Chávez Lévano and Christien Mladic Janney), the Subtitula’M and the AMA; Why don't I write anything? (Isabel Fernández), the Free Your Mind; True Live (Celia Galán Julve), Incoproduction and Aluzine; Fossils from the White Sea (Lina Gorbaneva), the Top, and Amalur Prophecy (Myriam Ballesteros), received the MIA award.
