El Conquistador - The Mediapro Studio - TelevisaUnivision

The veteran Basque public radio and television reality show, 'El Conquistador', receives an adaptation for the Mexican network TelevisaUnivision produced by The Mediapro Studio Mexico and Cimarrón following the guidelines of the original contest, which is produced in Spain by Hostoil (The Mediapro Studio).

The program, which this year celebrates its 21st season in EiTB and which has also had an edition on RTVE and another on Channel 13 in Argentina, once again crosses borders with this new version, demonstrating the versatility of its model to reach audiences around the world. Faithful to the traditional formula of the program, 36 contestants from different Spanish-speaking nationalities, divided into three teams, will compete to survive in the lush wild places of the Dominican Republic.

One of the fundamental characteristics of The Conqueror, which distinguishes it from other adventure formats, is that in this program not everything is achieved by force, but rather the desire to excel, sportsmanship and cunning They are “even more powerful weapons” to overcome the difficult challenges that participants will have to face. On this occasion, the teams called Titanes (boys), Amazonas (girls) and Centauros (mixed) will respectively have 12 contestants, who must show their skill to get the $200,000 prize.

As in the original format, The Conqueror has also had on this occasion a fabulous display of means for the implementation of the program, with a team of 250 people in the Dominican Republic, a paradisiacal setting with surprising vegetation, endless beaches, hidden caves and cliffs and spectacular fauna and flora. The actor and presenter Julián Gil and the sports journalist Valeria Marín, a newlywed couple in real life, will be the presenters of this Mexican adventure.

Amparo Castellano, nonfiction director of The Mediapro Studio, conveys several of the keys to the adaptation: "When we started talking to TelevisaUnivision about this adaptation, they were always very clear that it had to be absolutely faithful to the original. This is what we have done and what demonstrates the solidity of this format, which has allowed it to remain on the air for more than two decades, and its ability to travel to other markets, thanks to its original mix of competition, survival, nature and the mental and physical strength of its contestants." Catalina Porto, responsible for The Mediapro Studio Mexico and Colombia, adds: "Since we started operations in Mexico we wanted to work with TelevisaUnivision. We started last year with 'Cash' and today, which is once again a reality, we are proud that it is with a format as important and close to the DNA of the STUDIO as He Conquistador, which has been a success in Spain for more than 20 years.”
