Vienna, chosen as the venue for the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest
The 70th edition of Eurovision Song Contest It will take place on May 12, 14 and 16, 2026 in Vienna, the Austrian city chosen in the last head-to-head match against Innsbruck.
It will be the third time Austria famous Eurovision: the first in 1967, after the triumph of Udo Jürgens con “Thank you, darling.”, and the second in 2015, on the 60th anniversary, when Conchita Wurst shocked everyone with “Rise Like a Phoenix”. In 2026, Vienna will repeat as host with two semi-finals and one grand finale scheduled for Saturday May 16
Austria claimed victory in Eurovision 2025 with 258 votes of the professional juries and 178 of televoting. He did it with the interpretation of JJ, a young 24-year-old mezzo-soprano, from the song “Wasted Love”. Austria's victory had a Spanish seal: the choreography bore the signature of Borja Rueda and the artistic direction was in charge of Sergio Jaen, appointed director of Benidorm Fest 2026.

Martin Green, director of the Eurovision Song Contest, welcomes the choice of Vienna as the venue for Eurovision 2026: "Vienna's reputation as one of the most musical cities in the world and its location in the heart of Europe make it the perfect venue for the 70th edition of the festival. The city's exceptional Stadthalle was a great setting for the 60th edition in 2015 and we look forward to welcoming delegations, artists and fans again next May, when the biggest musical event live in the world celebrate 70 glorious years. Together with the host station, the ORF, and the city of Vienna, we will create a spectacular celebration of music that will resonate around the world.”
On the other hand, Roland Weissmann, general director of Austrian public television, says: "After an exhaustive analysis and a unanimous evaluation of the jury, the ORF concluded that Vienna's candidacy was not only the most solid in infrastructure and logistics, but also the most advantageous in economic terms. The Festival is a celebration of the entire country and a source of pride for the entire Austria."
