After Salvador Sobral's victory in the final last Saturday in kyiv (Ukraine), Portuguese radio and television is now preparing to face one of the greatest logistical and technical challenges in its history.

The LXIII Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Portugal in May 2018, after the victory of Salvador Sobral and his emotional song Love for both in the final last Saturday in kyiv (Ukraine). The winning song earned a total of 758 points, taking first place, 143 points behind Bulgaria, the second place.

For his part, Manel Navarro, representative of Spain, was in last position after a controversial performance, demonstrating once again the apathy with which Spanish Television faces a musical event with the international projection that Eurovision enjoys.

The Executive Supervisor of Eurovision, Jon Ola Sand, issued the hosting invitation to Rádio y Televisión de Portugal (RTP), giving it on the same night of the final the folder with the basic criteria to host the contest (type of venue, security, budget...) in order to be the new host of the European Song Festival.

Nuno Artur Silva, general director of RTP, has already announced that a priori the MEO Arena venue in Lisbon is being handled as the setting for the next edition.
