The Korean KBS integrates LaON's Genie intercom into one of its largest studios

Studio D and the KBS Hall, one of the largest spaces in the South Korean KBS, have been renovated with the Genie intercom system from LaON.

In it KBS Hall some of the most popular formats of public broadcaster KBS are produced, such as Open Concert, Gag Concert, The Seasons o Music Bank. Space, which used to use communication systems “obsolete” that caused problems regarding “wireless interference”, needed a renovation to be able to continue facing the growing challenges of its daily life.

After exploring the market, KBS has ended up betting on two complete Genie intercom systems of LaON, connected to two base stations with specific multi-synchronization cables for IP synchronizations. According to Byun Yerin, technical director of KBS, the Genie 5 GHz intercom is the “perfect solution” for the environment, as it offers many RF channel options: “We now use approximately 20 packs, but in the future we will be able to add more flexibly without having to make any additional investment in a base station or wireless antenna, which makes our work much easier.”

"In addition, the GCM (Genie Configuration Manager) program is very useful. If any interference occurs, we can monitor the RF situation by GCM scanning each antenna location and easily coordinate or change the RF channel. During the most stressful management jobs, Genie helps us," concludes Yerin.
