Disk Archive's Alto archiving platform will receive the new S3 Cold interface at IBC 2025
Disk Archive will present its new S3 Cold interface for Alto in IBC 2025 (September 12-15), a development that aims to expand deep archive capabilities for multimedia workflows.
The new S3 Cold is defined as a interface compatible con S3 optimized for cold storage, where data is retained for long periods of time with minimal access. “Unlike cloud-based cold storage tiers,” Alto’s S3 Cold interface allows organizations to maintain local control over their files, while benefiting from the same API support and workflow simplicity that S3 offers.
The S3 Cold interface has been designed to withstand long term storage of multimedia assets at low cost and low power, making it suitable for deep archive use cases where content must be preserved securely and easily accessible. Unlike traditional cloud-based S3 storage, Alto's S3 Cold implementation is runs on premises, delivering the cost predictability, data sovereignty and performance control that media organizations increasingly demand.
The solution offers an integration plug-and-play with the growing ecosystem of multimedia asset management platforms (MAM) and coordination of workflows compatible with S3, allowing broadcasters, post-production companies and content owners to implement deep archiving strategies with greater flexibility and efficiency. S3 Cold complements Alto's existing set of standard interfaces and native integrations, spanning more than 60 production platforms in the areas of asset management, storage management and workflow automation.
Disk Archive's Alto platform, a disk-based deep archive solution designed as an alternative to LTO tape and cloud storage, provides benefits such as migration-free architecture, low power consumption and a scalable and modular design. Furthermore, it supports standalone, cloud-integrated, and tape-integrated workflows.
