Media Links' Xscend to receive compact 1RU version at IBC 2025
The new Xscend 1RU (Media Links) lands on IBC 2025 (September 12-15, Amsterdam) to offer users a high-density modular IP media gateway in a very small form factor.
Designed for implementations with a reduced number of channels and with space limitations, he new and compact family member Xscend of 1RU offers the same performance and flexibility modular than the 2RU model, housing up to one maximum of 64 multimedia channels. Both versions of Xscend are designed to admit multiple compression codes, including native HEVC (H.265)/AVC (H.264) along with RIST/SRT protocols, giving users flexibility to adapt the transport to a wide range of bandwidth and network performance limitations.
The platform addresses the ground contribution to cloud, remote and distributed production, Single Frequency Networking (SFN) distribution, IP routing under study and multi-format media gateway applications. Its modular design allows SDI/IP conversion, integration with cloud workflows and ultra-reliable delivery of compressed and uncompressed media over IP. Xscend's adaptive architecture also supports software defined updates, allowing infrastructures to adapt to constantly evolving network protocols, user workflows, physical interfaces and video formats.
Beyond the launch of the Xscend 1RU, Media Links will show in IBC 2025 its line of switches MDX aggregation with the introduction of MDX-48X8C, which features 8 100GbE uplink ports along with 48 SFP28 ports (1G/10G/25G). Designed with a non-blocking architecture for multicast flows and with edge clock support, the platform offers extensive flow integrity protection measures: loop/flooding protection, oversubscription, and per-flow bandwidth management, minimizing service interruptions.
