Media Links will debut its 100G Media-Centric series of IP switches at NAB 2019

The new MDX100G family addresses the explosive growth and new norm of time-sensitive “video/audio data” as well as non-real-time data traffic over IP networks for live news production, high-profile news, entertainment and sporting events. They offer high port density, allowing facilities to operate at any scale, while reducing operating costs and infrastructure complexity.
Media Links' MDX100G switches also meet market demand for unidirectional and bidirectional multicast media and data, especially for WAN and remote production applications.
Traditional switches cannot handle these applications, while the network architecture used in this series can support seamless protective switching (SPS) for more reliable and robust transport performance, a feature that conventional network architecture does not typically incorporate. Other key features include VLAN bridging and translation, special QoS services, physical layer alarm, and LLDP monitoring and diagnostic support.
The MDX100G switches are specifically designed for aggregating multicast media streams, whether compressed, uncompressed, unidirectional or bidirectional. The switch is optimized for zero packet loss, 100% throughput, maximum forwarding speed, low latency, and memory allocation to priority queues. A specially designed integrated LSI switch controller agent within the switch ensures no packet loss in the most demanding multicast applications in many cases.
The agent uses matching and forwarding rule sets for forwarding SDN packets. Additionally, the use of rule sets enables data loop/flooding protection along with port egress bandwidth limits, preventing oversubscription. For SMPTE 2110 environments, these switches also support PTP timing and network synchronization (IEEE 1588).
