Euro 2024

Timeline TV chose the MDP 3020 MAX series from IP Media Gateways (Media Links) to facilitate the transport and delivery of media and data services over IP networks during the recent UEFA Europe 2024.

Timeline TV, one of the UK's leading providers of broadcast technologies and services, supplied the broadcast infrastructure along with a full range of services for this highly-rated sporting event in Germany.

Since the Sports production is increasingly data intensive and requires up-to-the-minute statistics, analysis and historical references, having the ability to cost-effectively support the rapid deployment of data and media transport services is vital to today's live sports workflows.

The chosen solution, MDP3020 MAX from Media Links, was the solution chosen as a Advanced, compact, half-rack IP media gateway Specially designed for portable video, audio and data transport applications.

MAX is focused on offering the widest range of workflows reconfigurable applications, admitting up to two 10G data ports via dual 10G trunks, while supporting 4K, 3G and HD/SD video along with 16-channel, 8-pair AES audio. The device is available with optical or electrical interfaces, JPEG-XS compression for high quality, low latency and bandwidth conservation, and provides a range of additional capabilities that facilitate fast and efficient installation, commissioning and disassembly.

Live sports broadcasting also poses significant challenges for transporting signals over lossy and error-prone networks, and requires high bandwidth, glitch-free and interruption-free transmission of video/audio as well as data content.

One of the main reasons Timeline chose the Media Links MDP 3020 was its support for SMPTE 2022-7 seamless protection “interference-free” switching for media and data via dual transmission paths. Perfect reconstruction of the signal at the receiving end is virtually guaranteed as long as both paths do not fail simultaneously.
