This is Tactiq, the modular control interface that EVS will present at IBC 2025
IBC 2025 (September 12 – 15, Amsterdam) will be the framework in which EVS will introduce Tactiq, a modular, software-defined control room interface that allows broadcasters to expand, automate and customize their live production workflows.
Tactiq seeks to ensure that production workspaces are not limited by specific hardware for each task. By decoupling the user interface from the systems backend, Tactiq “abstracts complexity” by offering a unified control of all key elements of the production, including video, audio, graphics and lighting.
This approach software defined It provides production teams, above all, with operational flexibility. TO Any workstation can be assigned any task, which can be operated via a touch screen or a physical controller. In this way, each operator position becomes multifunctional, which improves collaboration, maximizes team efficiency and allows for more flexible workflows.
To further optimize operations, Tactiq introduces based automation rundowns, which streamlines repetitive tasks and preserves the ability for manual intervention when necessary. This hybrid model reduces operational errors and ensures a consistent result, even under the pressure of live productions.
Designed with interoperability at its core, Tactiq integrates into the EVS live production ecosystem and is compatible with a wide range of third party tools. Tactiq also supports rapid scalability, making it easy to onboard new operators, reassign responsibilities, or adapt control room layouts. In the words of Dieter Backx, vice president of control and coordination of EVS: "Tactiq is more than an interface: it is a strategic enabler. It is the gateway to our Flexible Control Room solution, which allows our customers to reimagine their production control rooms as dynamic and adaptable workspaces that respond to the pace and complexity of current and future live production."
Tactiq, in the EVS Flexible Control Room
The new EVS solution is part of the concept “Flexible Control Room (FCR)”, which seeks to offer the industry a software defined environment which replaces traditional fixed control rooms with agile and reconfigurable workspaces, adapted to modern production needs. Together with Tactiq, this commitment is accompanied by other solutions such as Production Resource Manager, which identifies and manages system resources, operator roles, and equipment configurations during live production.
Based on open and interoperable technology and compatible with IP and legacy workflows, the FCR aligns with the guide Dynamic Media Facility (DMF) of the EBU for modern, software-defined production infrastructures. "We are excited about what the FCR represents and also understand the importance of protecting legacy investments. That's why it has been designed to integrate seamlessly into existing infrastructure, ensuring continuity and compatibility throughout the live production environment," explains Backx.
First steps in RTBF
RTBF, Belgium's French-speaking public broadcaster, has once again joined forces with EVS to develop and implement the first large scale FCR in your facilities Media Square, a state-of-the-art all-IP production center that will open in 2026.
Serge Van Herck, CEO of EVS, highlights the company's future vision: "With Tactiq and the broader FCR solution, we offer unprecedented flexibility and scalability to broadcasters, while creating new opportunities for production staff to take on different operational roles. Our collaboration with RTBF has been instrumental in validating FCR's vision. Their bold and forward-thinking approach shows what is possible when innovation and collaboration come together at the heart of live production."
