AV-Professional installs a set for virtual production with Sony Crystal LED Verona
The Austrian AV Professional, based in Vienna, will offer its clients a set for virtual productions equipped with a video wall Sony Crystal LED Verona of 40 square meters.
AV-Professional is the first rental company in the world to offer the Sony Verona 1.5mm LED video wall for rental. With video wall system Verona Crystal LED (C-LED) (ZRD-VP15EB), video walls for high-quality virtual reality productions can be created with an area of up to 40 square meters. Another novelty in the AV-Professional portfolio is the camera tracking system Ocellus Sony and software solution Virtual Production Toolset.
The C-LED Verona offers system integrators and rental companies exceptional installation freedom. Square LED modules are easy to install without requiring special knowledge, accessories or other complex equipment. The modules, which connect in stacks, are extremely robust and have protective measures to minimize the risk of costly damage during installation and operation. These include protecting the surface of the LEDs, which prevents them from being bent or damaged.
Verona is optimized for demanding virtual production applications. AV-Professional uses Verona modules with a 1.5mm pixel pitch (ZRD-VP15EB), which can be controlled through the processor Brompton SX40 card. The Deep Black and anti-reflective surface technology Recently developed by Sony, it offers very high image quality with an impressive brightness of 1500 cd/m², a wide color spectrum and a high refresh rate, complemented by extremely deep black levels that allow you to create the most realistic virtual sets possible.
The Verona series uses High-performance LED drivers integrated circuits (ICs) reaching extremely high refresh rates of up to 7680 Hz. A low refresh rate on an LED display can cause flickering and image artifacts, which is especially annoying at today's high frame rates in virtual production environments.
Ocellus
Along with the Verona video wall, AV-Professional also adds Ocellus to its rental program. Ocellus (ASR-CT1) is Sony's first camera tracking system designed specifically for augmented reality and virtual production applications in broadcast and film. It is based on the SLAM tracking technology, which are the acronym for Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (simultaneous localization and mapping) and allows markerless tracking through multiple sensors.
Ocellus consists of a sensor unit, a processing box and three lens encoders, and can be used with Sony Cinema Line cameras, Sony system cameras and cameras from other manufacturers. AV-Professional's virtual reality product portfolio is complemented by Sony's suite of virtual production tools, a camera and display plugin for Unreal Engine and calibration applications.
"Investing in a Sony Verona C-LED video wall is part of our internationalization strategy. After intensive market research, we decided on the best quality system on the market. Sony impressed us with its ecosystem of cameras, C-LED walls, tracking systems and software devices for virtual production. We are delighted to be the first rental company in the world to add the Sony Verona 1.5 mm LED to our portfolio," he says David Knapp, director general de AV-Professional.
Tefik Odza, senior director of DACH key accounts at Sony Europe, highlights that "our Verona Crystal LED video display is the best of the range for demanding virtual production applications. With exceptional black levels, low reflection, high brightness, a wide color gamut and a high refresh rate, as well as features that facilitate installation, Verona meets the expectations of filmmakers who need an optimal shooting environment."
