ROE Visual's Ruby panels, the hub of Sky's mobile studio for the Premier League
Sky Sports has decided to build its mobile studio, which will be used throughout the Premier League season touring more than 42 stadiums in the United Kingdom, around Ruby RB1.5 LED panels from ROE Visual.
Developed in close collaboration with the teams of Sky y ROE Visual, the project is designed to bring next-generation production quality to Sky's on-site coverage. The Broadcast Systems Integrator D&B is the main person responsible for the project, while ROE Visual supports the Sky Sports production team and ensures the latest product updates fully align with their creative and technical ambitions.
Designed to be deployed quickly and efficiently on site, the Sky Sports External Broadcast Studio allows presenters to deliver real-time analysis, interviews and content on game day in an environment that reflects the production quality of traditional studios, without being limited to a single location. The studio took its first steps at the beginning of the season Premier League last August, marking the start of a three-year touring program that will deliver immersive storytelling and studio-quality coverage to football fans across the UK.
Olaf Sparrowhawk, broadcast director and vice president of ROE Visual, celebrates the agreement by highlighting the “versatility” of the series Ruby: "With its premium mechanics, high refresh rate, minimal scan lines and excellent on-camera performance, Ruby RB1.5 is designed for demanding and changing environments, such as live sports broadcasting from the studio. Sky Sports' decision to invest in an advanced, robust and flexible LED setup for live broadcasting reflects a wider shift in the sector towards agile and flexible production."
The 2025/26 season marks the start of a historic four-year partnership between Sky Sports and the Premier League, which will see a minimum of 215 matches broadcast exclusively live on Sky each season.
