Creamfields festival produces its audiovisual content with Blackmagic cameras and mixers
The ATEM Constellation 8K switcher and URSA Broadcast G2 cameras from Blackmagic Design starred in the live broadcast and the creation of the screens on the Apex stage of Creamfields, one of the most prominent electronic music festivals in the United Kingdom.
With capacity for 30.000 people, the Apex stage is considered the largest covered festival space in the world. The company Video Village was in charge of implementing the audiovisual infrastructure necessary for its audiovisual production through a custom mobile unit mixer based ATEM Constellation 8K and a set of cameras URSA Broadcast G2. In the words of And Brennan, technical manager of Video Village: "This outdoor mobile is extremely efficient and offers our customers a compact, affordable and high-quality solution for carrying out outdoor broadcasts. In addition, it can meet the most demanding technical specifications."
Signal distribution was carried out using a switching matrix Blackmagic Videohub 80×80 12G, taking advantage of its 32 fiber optic inputs, and used units ATEM Talkback Converter 4K as interface points. This deployment made it possible to bidirectional transmission of images and audio, as well as the communication and control of camera pilot lights, through single-modal technology. He ATEM Constellation 8K was complemented with a device ATEM 2 M/E Advanced Panel 20 to mix the images and a unit ATEM Camera Control Panel for control the cameras and adjust the color: "The biggest challenge at Creamfields is the enormous number of outputs per source. We must generate clean signals, often with different frame rates. That is where the adaptability of the production dynamics is essential."
Two of the six URSA Broadcast G2, equipped with viewers URSA Studio Viewfinder G2, were located in the front area. The signals were transmitted to a unit Blackmagic Mini Converter Optical Fiber 12G with an SFP optical transceiver using 12G SDI technology or duplex single-mode fiber optics. Additionally, to further enhance the experience, several units Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 They were placed discreetly in different parts of the venue: "We were able to quickly reposition these compact cameras and perform smooth pans. They worked wonderfully in spaces where a larger, manually operated model would not have been practical."
Video Village completed its proposal by deploying the application Blackmagic Camera on an iPhone phone as part of the workflow: "With a simple adapter and the application, we were able to transmit the signal directly to the ATEM Constellation using a low-latency wireless system. It synchronized and worked perfectly, giving us discreet shots from the audience's point of view."
