Gran Canaria hosts the filming of the comic 'The taste of chlorine'

Eterno Islands Pictures produces the feature film 'The taste of chlorine', a reinterpretation of the Bastien Vivès comic directed by Álvaro Congosto whose filming stops in Gran Canaria before tackling its final act in New York.

Published in 2008, the work placed Bastien Vivès among the prominent names of contemporary European comics. It won the revelation award at the Angoulême Festival and attracted attention for its narrative delicacy and the contained and precise way in which it portrays emotions. Its sensitivity and atmosphere explain the interest now aroused by its film adaptation.

The project, developed within the Sources2 Lab, continues its international schedule after filming in Gran Canaria (where several key sequences are filmed) and will travel next April to New York, the city where much of the story is set. For Álvaro Congosto, director of the project, filming in Gran Canaria is being “a real discovery.” "It was a challenge to transfer a story set in New York to the island and find locations that conveyed that essence, but we have found incredible places, like Talleres Palermo, where we filmed an immersive theater scene with local dancers that was beautiful. For a moment it seemed like we were in the best bar in Brooklyn," he noted.

The film stars Adrián Lastra, Aida Folch as Amelia, Esmeralda Pimentel and José Luis García Pérez. Completing the cast are Antonio Dechent, Stephen Ohl, Rafa Álamos, Raudel Raúl and Juan Betancour. In the technical team, in addition to Álvaro Congosto in direction and script (along with Victor Nores), production is carried out by Patricia Gonzalez for Eterno Pictures. The production management is Hugo Romera González, while production design falls to Raquel Troyano and the direction of photography in David Cortazar. The assembly is the work of Mine is Mugüerza and the sound is led by Miguel Carretero Hernández. The makeup and hairdressing team is in the hands of Blanca Otamendi and the costumes are designed Amador Garcia.
