'Sirat', shortlisted in five Oscar categories
After achieving two Golden Globe nominations (Best Foreign Language Film and Best Original Score), Oliver Laxe's 'Sirat' aims to sneak into the Hollywood Film Academy Awards, the Oscars, having been shortlisted in five categories.
Sirat had its world premiere in the Official Section of the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, in which she was awarded the Jury Prize at the same time, el Premio Cannes Soundtrack to Kangding Ray, and the wink of Palm Dog Grand Jury Prize. Besides, The film has been recognized among the best films of the year by prestigious entities such as the National Board of Reviews (top 5 best international films), the magazine Sight and Sound from the British Film Institute (top 4 of the best of the year), the specialized magazine The Hollywood Reporter (Top 3 of the 10 best in 2026), Indie Wire (top 8 of the best films and top 6 of the best directors) or the best film of the year for the influential magazine The New Yorker.
