Canal Sur launches playout architecture updating its Pebble ecosystem
Since the issuance automation platform Pebble of Channel On was approaching the end of its useful life, regional television has decided to resort to Data Average to integrate the latest version of the system, based on Integrated Channel technology.
The new broadcast architecture Channel On, based on engines Pebble Integrated Channel defined by software, they are in charge of the emission of all the broadcaster's channels; the management of the local disconnections, and shipments to multimedia platforms such as channels aimed at payment operators and platforms like YouTube. Deployment, a transversal solution widely supported in processes of automation, also manages the intake, las control file transfers and the insertion of key graphics.
To Pedro Espina, technical director of Channel On, the deployment responds to the need to consolidate “much greater operational flexibility now in the future,” which could allow them to cover multiple channels with “absolute reliability.” “Our close relationship with Pebble over a long period gave us a lot of confidence, and they showed us how they could meet all our expectations with a compact and efficient implementation,” he stressed.
From the integrator's perspective, Jorge Perez, commercial director of Data Average, provides more details of the deployment: "A fundamental part of the project was managing the transformation. We had to ensure seamless integration with other Canal Sur systems, such as traffic, asset management and scheduling. We also had to ensure that staff understood and could access the new capabilities, while maintaining the familiar parts of the Pebble user interface to eliminate any risk."
Finally, Peter Mayhead, CEO of Pebble, highlights the success of the project, already consolidated in the Andalusian autonomous region: "This is an excellent example of the importance of strong relationships between provider and user. Canal Sur has relied on Pebble technology, fundamental to its mission, for more than a decade, and in that time each party has learned from the other, which translates into a real and deep understanding of the requirements when updating the system. We are delighted to implement this new system at Canal Sur and look forward to many more years of smooth broadcasts and open and engaging conversations."
