José Antonio Sánchez (Telemadrid) takes over as the rotating presidency of FORTA
During a period of six months, José Antonio Sánchez, general director of Radio Television Madrid (Telemadrid), will serve as president of the FORCE, continuing the Federation's Rotary model of leadership.
He new president happens to the presidency Roman Rose, president of 3Cat (Catalan Audiovisual Media Corporation), whose management has been marked by the strengthening of cooperation between the autonomous chains and for the consolidation of a multi-support and digital strategy aimed at reinforcing the role of public media in the new audiovisual ecosystem. The members of the General Board have thanked Romà for “her dedication and the quality of her contribution as president.”
After his appointment, Jose Antonio Sanchez has highlighted the essential role of regional television and radio as public service of proximity and territorial cohesion, pointing to continuity in FORTA's strategy: "Regional television and radio stations are a fundamental pillar of social structuring. At this stage we will work to reinforce shared projects, optimize available resources and deepen the digital transformation, with special attention to innovation and attracting young audiences," he noted.
Jose Antonio Sanchez He is a journalist and manager with an extensive career in the field of communication and the audiovisual sector, both public and private. Graduated in Information Sciences, specializing in Journalism, from the Complutense University of Madrid, he began his professional career at Agencia EFE and developed extensive journalistic work at the newspaper ABC, where he was editor-in-chief, parliamentary chronicler and columnist. Likewise, he was a columnist for La Razón from its foundation until 2002.
Since June 2024, he has been general director of Radio Television Madrid (RTVM), a position he assumed after serving as provisional administrator of regional television since 2021. Previously, he had already held managerial responsibilities in the same entity as general director of RTVM between 2011 and 2014. Likewise, he developed an extensive career at Radiotelevisión Española (RTVE), where he was general director between 2002 and 2004 and president of the corporation between 2014 and 2018.
Throughout his career, he has been part of the Prince of Asturias Awards Jury for a decade and has received various recognitions, including the Golden Antenna awarded by the Federation of Professional Radio and Television Associations.
