Izzi (Televisa) adopts Harmonic's cOS virtualized platform to accelerate its fiber optic deployment in Mexico
The cOS virtualized broadband platform Harmonic, designed to simplify fiber optic deployment, will allow the operator of multiple systems Izzy (Televisa) accelerate the arrival of connectivity to commercial and residential customers throughout Mexico.
In its expansion throughout Mexico, Izzy is implementing technologies OLT is remote, including the platform Harmonic cOS virtualized broadband with modules Pearl Remote Optical Line Termination (R-OLT) inside compact outdoor node boxes Oyster, which offer high power consumption and wide PON port density. The solution streamlines the operator's migration to fiber, while minimizes hardware requirements and offers significant energy, space and cost savings.
To further facilitate deployment, Harmonic has integrated Izzi's preferred third-party ONTs in line with its strategy. Open ONT, which reduces the total cost of ownership by eliminating dependence on a single supplier and providing the Televisa subsidiary with the necessary flexibility to select the CPE devices that best suit your needs. Additionally, to minimize disruptions to customer service during a deployment that will span the next several years, Harmonic will provide engineering services along with logistical resources and personnel on the ground.
Israel Madiedo, director of innovation and technology at Izzi, values the cOS performance: "Harmonic's innovative solutions, proven experience, market stability and unwavering support are essential to ensure our smooth transition to fiber. This evolution is key as we launch new service offerings and lead the broadband transformation in Mexico."
From the perspective of Harmonic, whose platform powers next-generation broadband services through more than 41 million CPE devices worldwide for major operators in North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia, its president and CEO Nimrod Ben-Nathan comments: "The initiative marks an important milestone in the partnership between izzi and Harmonic, as it reinforces our collaboration and drives long-term value for subscribers and communities throughout Mexico. Thanks to the software, our market-leading broadband solutions will allow Izzi to lay the foundation for sustained innovation and subscriber satisfaction."
