Disk Archive - Alto - NAB 2026

Relying on the phenomenon of “de-clouding”, marked by the strategic “repatriation” of assets from the public cloud, Disk Archive defend in NAB 2026 (April 19-22) the suitability of its alternative to LTO: its ALTO storage solutions.

According to Disk Archive, the race to consolidate a 100% cloud storage model is at a point of inflection. More and more broadcasters and content providers are betting on a hybrid model due to the increase in departure fees and the loss of control on its controlled assets. Given this context, Alan Hoggart, general director of Disk Archivo, proposes the consolidation of the “de-clouding”, which involves “choosing the right place for the “heavy work” of the audiovisual assets”.

This phenomenon comes at a time when platforms like T10K o Sony ODA They reach the end of their useful life. To respond to this context, and provide support to those organizations that want to give up the “forced update cycles inherent to LTO”, Disk Archive will highlight at NAB 2026 the suitability of its ALTO platform, which dispenses with the need to perform a complete library rewrite “every few generations.”

ALTO arrives with features like a deployment of open standards in its architecture; a cost model without “hidden charges” in the form of replacement units or software licenses; a sustainable focus through COLD storage (Completely Off-Line Disk), which provides ultra-low power consumption, and the advantages of “random access“, which allows instant file recovery and partial file restorations.
