20 Pixera servers to manage 94 million pixels: the case of Studio V
The Korean Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) inaugurates Studio V, a state-of-the-art virtual production set located in the StudioCube production center in which a system Pixera (BY Stumpfl) of four RS with 20 servers is responsible for powering the more than 94 million pixels of the LED volume.
Studio V has a main LED wall 60 meters wide by eight meters high, and 21 x 15 meter LED ceiling y two movable side LED screens 5 x 5 meters. This canvas is powered by a system AV Stumpfl Pixera four RS distributed from 20 servers, specified and integrated by the company Live-Lab from Seoul. The architecture includes 17 render nodes, one address node, and two a piece internal, forming a synchronized infrastructure Designed specifically for enterprise-scale virtual production.
Studio V was developed around a production ecosystem entirely based on IP that incorporates workflows SMPTE ST 2110, making it among the first large-scale public virtual production studios in the world to implement this architecture at full operational scale. This collaboration extended far beyond conventional integration and included ST 2110 software versions early access, validation GPU Direct, tests of PTP sync, simulation and workflow replication, and validation cycles closed loop between on-site and headquarters teams. The collaboration was carried out through daily reporting cycles and environment replication testing, validating the behavior of the system in real production conditions before start-up.
This process enabled engine-level optimization tailored to Studio V, validation of distributed workflows of Inner piece y Extensive multi-camera tracking sync testing before launch. The production supervisor and technical director of Live-Lab, Alvin Chu, confirms that the project has come to fruition: "All content is managed and coordinated through Pixera's distributed infrastructure on 20 synchronized servers. This allows frame-accurate synchronization between camera tracking, rendering and LED output, which is a fundamental requirement in large-scale virtual production. (…) The end client has expressed great satisfaction with both the technical result and the operational preparation of the studio. We are proud of the work we have done and the collaboration that has made it possible.”
