AJA Its IP25

Production and post-production professionals using the ST 2110 Kona IP25 I/O card from AJA Video Systems and the software Colorfront They will now be able to take advantage of the advanced performance offered by the ST 2110 standard to optimize local and remote journaling, transcoding and streaming.

The president of AJA, Nick Rashby, highlights that "as file sizes continue to increase and higher resolution, higher frame rate workflows become the norm, more customers are turning to the ST 2110 standard to future-proof their facilities. Our latest integration puts ST 2110 I/O within reach of Colorfront users. Colorfront software is a key component in many production and post-production workflows, and the integration with Kona IP25 enhances what professionals can achieve.”

For its part, Brandon Heaslip, director of solutions engineering at Colorfront, says, "When our customers need an I/O card manufacturer, our usual recommendation is AJA, so integrating with the Kona IP25 was a natural step to meet our customers' need for ST 2110 I/O capabilities. Working with AJA to ensure compatibility was easy. We updated the SDK and made minor code modifications, and the integration went live quickly and smoothly."

Colorfront Transcoder is a high-performance mastering, processing and delivery solution for post-production workflows with built-in reference-quality streaming, while Colorfront On-set Dailies Manages original camera media from ingest to delivery. Combined with AJA's Kona IP25 PCIe I/O card, which supports uncompressed bi-directional video over IP, these technologies provide a powerful solution for journaling, transcoding and streaming over an ST 2110 network.

The integration can be easily accessed by installing Kona IP25 and launching Transkoder or On-Set Dailies. The software recognizes the card instantly, allowing Colorfront users to view and access the Kona IP25's settings, from RGB to YUV, 12-bit 4:4:4 and beyond.

Notably, the Kona IP25, an 8-lane SMPTE ST 2110 PCIe Gen 4.0 IP I/O card with support for uncompressed bidirectional video, features two SFP slots supporting 10 and 25 Gigabit Ethernet (10/25 GigE) SFPs and a 1 GigE RJ-45 connector. As a complete solution for SMPTE ST 2110 processing with integrated PTP and NMOS control, the card is compatible with leading editing, effects and production tools on Windows, macOS and Linux. For developers, the same AJA SDK used for the Kona baseband I/O cards is also used for the KONA IP25, providing an easy way to develop applications and build systems for SMPTE ST 2110 workflows.
