Hiru Telebista, a new educational channel on the Internet

This is Internet Television for Lifelong Education, an initiative of the Department of Education, Universities and Research of the Basque Government developed by Vilau Media.

This April a new WebTV project called Hiru Television and whose protagonists are teachers and students from the Vocational Training Centers of the Basque Country who share useful processes related to the subjects they teach on this channel. Vilau Media has been in charge of making it possible for this channel to integrate various content formats such as very short videos, in an attractive, accessible and current audiovisual format.

Thanks to this innovative means of communication, developed by Vilau, the public will be able to learn in a few minutes from really necessary processes such as changing the car wheel, brake pads, to much more specialized activities: how to do lip micropigmentation, install a video intercom... The main objective of Hiru Television is to become a useful tool available to everyone as a learning and information resource.

In the first phase of the project, a grid of “broadcast” videos is offered with biweekly updates. Hiru also has two subchannels: one dedicated to Vocational Training, in which videos created by both students and teachers are broadcast, and another for Leisure with sections such as music videos, cinema or gastronomy. But this is just the beginning, since in the short term they intend to expand the subchannels and themes.

On the other hand, Hiru Television offers the possibility for the user to interact, such as commenting and rating the broadcast videos. Subsequently, the most voted will appear highlighted on the main page. Furthermore, if the viewer wants to see a video that is not currently broadcast, they can easily find it, thanks to a search engine, through which they can access said images categorized by center, theme or date.

Vilau has defined and developed the channel, and is in charge, in direct collaboration with EITB, the Department of Education and Universities and Research of the Basque Government, of its management and maintenance, both at a technical and content level.
