Televisa: content protection with Tedial
The Malaga company integrates content protection technology into the production flows of the Mexican chain.
Televisa has selected the solution developed by Tedial for content protection based on watermarks and that combines the technologies of Civolution (a company founded in 2008 as a spin-off of Royal Philips Electronics) and Tedial itself, resulting in a robust and scalable platform that is fully integrated with the content management system. Civolution's video watermarking technology is based on hiding information in the video as an adaptive and modulated noise pattern, using a secret key. Without this key, it is virtually impossible to remove or even detect the presence of the “watermark.”
Tedial has integrated Civolution's watermarking technology with the Ficus content production process management system and the LegalCopy content monitoring system. The Ficus system, the facility's authentic BPM, incorporates Civolution markers (embedders) into the production flow in a stage of automatic marking of materials before being sent to the Tarsys content management system. In this system, the assigned watermark and the duration of the material are recorded.
Likewise, Tedial's LegalCopy system includes the automatic cataloging of Televisa channels by importing the “as run log” generated by automation, which we will use as a source of identification of the materials included in the playlist of each channel.
Tedial's content detection units consist of Civolution detectors and the LegalCopy system that generates a wmv copy of each television channel. Content detections made by the detectors automatically index the video. Through a temporal correlation of metadata, the results of the detection are compared with those defined by the “as run log” of each Televisa channel, identifying the materials that have been rebroadcast incompletely or at different times on local stations in Mexico.
