Barger Lite: highly efficient flat projectors
Barger Lite, distributed by Grau Luminotecnia, are very flat projectors that, with several 800 or 1000W lamps, fill the entire chimera with light without creating vignettes and with completely homogeneous light.
Given the need to have large sources of diffuse light, light boxes were born, popularly known as chimeras. It was a great idea, putting a light, foldable softbox in front of any projector to turn it into a diffuse and homogeneous light source. The chimeras are made of fabric and therefore light and easy to transport regardless of their size and the light source that is placed behind them. As lighting needs increased and more power was put into the chimeras, the need for space and technical equipment to move these projectors increased. Since they are designed to illuminate from a distance, they need a large volume to accommodate the dish, the lamp and its carriage (in the case of fresnel) to vary the light beam.
Ed Barger saw it very clearly and turned the tables. Why would I use those large projectors if what I wanted was a large radiant surface? Then he began to develop the Barger Lite, which are very flat projectors with several 800 or 1000W lamps arranged in such a way that they fill the entire Chimera with light without creating vignettes and with truly homogeneous light. The Barger Lites have just the right depth to house the lamps with their reflectors, specifically designed to obtain maximum performance from the softboxes. The depth of the Barger Lite is only 16cm and gives us a higher performance than a 5kW fresnel, without hot spots and perfect chimera diffusion. It is simple to assemble, it can be handled by a single person with the chimera mounted and it does not need accessories as it has integrated housings for the rods.
