IBC Awards 2009 awarded
Coinciding with the European convention in Amsterdam, IBC presents the 2009 innovation awards.
Among the activities that take place at the Amsterdam fair, the IBC Awards are perhaps the event that arouses the most interest among the professionals who meet in the Dutch city these days. In a ceremony held today the organization announced these prestigious industry awards.
The jury is made up of editors and journalists from around the world who were amazed by the remarkable variety of proposals that reflect the creativity of the industry and its effort to broadcast more content effectively on a multitude of platforms.
The special award for Excellence went to the Metropolitan Opera. The award has been given to its general director, Peter Gelb, in recognition of the IBC, organizer of the fair, to the Metropolitan of New York. The New York City Opera has been broadcasting opera regularly every Saturday on the radio since 1931, and on television since 1977. In 2006, a new venture was launched, broadcasting operas in high definition by streaming them live to digital movie theaters in the US and around the world on a total of 900 screens in 40 countries throughout this season.
The IBC Awards are divided into three categories for the most innovative projects in the production, management and broadcast of content.
