Percon: breaking 3G-SDI boundaries
Percon's engineering department has subjected its high-definition video cables (3G-SDI) to extensive testing to establish the maximum distance over which 3Gbps signals can be transported. On the other hand, Percon has expanded its range of products for HDTV.
In recent months, Percon has carried out a series of tests to verify the performance of its high definition video cables (3G-SDI) with respect to other existing solutions on the market, establishing the distances with which this type of cabling can operate without degenerating the signal. The results obtained have been more than satisfactory for the Spanish company, since they break with the distances offered by the rest of the companies in the sector.
For the tests carried out, Percon has used a high-definition progressive video signal generator (3G-SDI) and a waveform monitor from the Tektronix brand, model WFM 7120, with a data transmission rate of 2,970 Gbps (SMPTE 424/425M) and a screen refresh rate of 50/59.94/60Hz, along with Percon's BNC connectors for HDTV.
It should be noted, for example, that Percon has managed to cover a distance of up to 220 meters for the VK9 (1.6/7.1) cable with a 3G-SDI (1080p) YCbCr 4:2:2 signal at 50 and 60 HZ according to SMPTE 424M and SMPTE 425M.
On the other hand, Percon has expanded its family of products for HDTV solutions by presenting a new range of video patch panels for HDTV applications (HD-SDI) with hybrid fiber optic cable according to the SMPTE 311M standard (Percon M2F4C) for high definition digital video applications (HDTV/HD-SDI). The 2RU high patch panel is fully customizable by the client, offering the possibility of applying different combinations according to each need (up to 6 connectors). The M2F4C cable is a cable designed under the recommendations of SMPTE 311M in which the union of single-mode optical fiber with control/signal cables is intended. It is used in professional video production for simultaneous transmission of video, audio and control signals between the mobile unit and the base station.
Also worth highlighting is the super flexible Cat 6 FTP cable at 400Mhz, it is a shielded cable, optimal for installations where there is electrical interference. Complies with the following regulations: EIA/TIA 568A, ISO/IEC 11801 2nd ed. with these IEEE802.3 applications: 10BaseT, 100BaseT, 1000BaseT, IEEE802.5 16MB, ISDN, TPDDI, ATM. This cable is specially designed for use in reel reels and for outdoor installations, such as mobile units.
