Epson transfers its small and medium TFT LCD division to Sony

Seiko Epson Corporation, by virtue of an agreement closed with Sony Corporation, has transferred its small and medium-sized TFT LCD division since the beginning of December, excluding those derived from high-temperature polysilicon, transferring all the assets of Epson Imaging Devices Corporation to Sony and Sony Mobile Display Corporation.

Following the agreement reached last summer between Epson and Sony, as of the beginning of this month of December the assets of the Epson Imaging Devices Corporation division pass into the hands of Sony and Sony Mobile Display Corporation.

In this way, Sony takes over the business of small and medium-sized TFT LCDs, except for those derived from high-temperature polysilicon. At the end of this year, the sales force of this division of Epson will be integrated almost entirely into the Sony workforce, leaving Epson to market this line of TFT LCD products as of today.
