iViewer: the new BBC streaming service, integrated into the television

From now on it will no longer be necessary to have a special Set top box to receive the BBC video streaming service since the new iViewer service, successor to iPlayer, will be accessible integrated into the television itself.

The new video streaming service promoted by BBC, iViewer, successor to iPlayer, will be accessible from this Christmas from the television itself without needing to have any access set top box, video game console or a subscription to digital television with Virgin Media. The British Cello Electronics has reached an agreement with the public broadcaster to integrate the iViewer service in its new 26 (Ready HD) and 32 inch (Full HD) LCDs.

El equipo, que será distribuido desde esta semana en los centros comerciales de Marks&Spencer (en exclusiva hasta marzo), se conecta directamente a la Red a través de WiFi o mediante un cable Ethernet.

A través de streaming, el usuario puede acceder a un amplio número de servicios tanto del BBC iPlayer como de otros servicios de streaming como YouTube, Disney Movies Preview, Movie Rush, Autocar Magazine, y numerosos video podcast como los de CNN o Larry King.
