When King Carl Gustaf of Sweden inaugurated the Norrköping Visualization Center, located in Norrköping (Sweden), on May 27, it marked the end of three intense years of design and construction of the most advanced visualization center in Europe. Visual Acuity has been the company in charge of carrying out the feasibility study to establish budgets, technologies and suppliers and design the spectacular digital dome that crowns the venue.

The Norrköping Visualization Center is a public center focused on visualization and interactive graphics and includes a dome-shaped projection space designed for academic research as well as 2D and 3D projection. This large dome has three main functions: providing entertainment for the local population, supporting Linköping University in its research activities, and a workplace for local industries.

Hidden inside an old 19th century power station that supplied energy to the local textile industry and which has been a challenge when designing the spaces, the new venue has a 14.8 meter diameter dome that covers a theater with capacity for 102 people and which establishes itself as the most modern and technically advanced viewing space in Europe.

The perforated aluminum screen, supplied by Spitz, has a field of view of between 165 and 360º with a 27° inclination, effectively forming a 'room within a room'. HoloVis International was in charge of integrating all the audiovisual equipment, installing a total of six stereoscopic projectors along with another seven for backup and presentations. Sense Delta Media has supplied the governed media server, as well as the rest of the installation with a Medialon control system programmed specifically for this large project. Mediatec, for its part, has carried out the installation of a JBL 7.2 surround audio system.
