Zaxcom has announced the launch of its new audio recorder intended to act as an ultra-compact and lightweight replacement for wireless microphones. The ZFR200 records on microSD cards and, among other functions, integrates an SMPTE time code generator and reader.

With a high-strength nylon polymer casing that is water and corrosion resistant, the ZFR200 weighs just one and a half kilos. The unit can receive remote control and time code signals via Zaxcom's IFB100, the new ZaxNet 2.4 GHz wireless network, or a manual time code. Timecode allows audio professionals to use any number of units on the ZFR200 synchronously, ensuring accurate framing within a six-hour period. This equipment allows you to work with 24-bit/48-KHz outputs with time codes in .Wav format or with time code MP3 files. Each unit is powered by a single AA battery with a maximum of 14 hours of autonomy.

“Our new ZFR200 is an excellent tool for broadcasters and producers that deal daily with interference problems, poor RF range, or even no wireless frequencies available,” said Glenn Sanders, president of Zaxcom.
