The International 3D Society presents the first Lumiere Awards
La International 3D Society ha entregado en el Mann Chinese Theatre Theather en Hollywood sus primeros premios Lumiere, creados para reconocer e impulsar el esfuerzo de la industria en pos de la estereoscopía. Buzz Hays, presidente de la Sociedad y productor ejecutivo 3D del Sony 3D Technology Center,comentó en la ceremonia que “estos innovadores están ayudando a la próxima generación de creativos. The International 3D Society has presented its first Lumiere Awards at the Mann Chinese Theater Theater in Hollywood, created to recognize and promote the industry's efforts in pursuit of stereoscopy.
Panasonic He received the first honorary “Charles Wheatstone” award in gratitude for his promotional work, technological development and commitment to stereoscopic 3D.
IMAX, RealD and Texas Instruments were recognized with the Century Award. IMAX saw its Solido Systems technology recognized, while Real D has obtained recognition from the International 3D Society for its projection systems and Texas for its DLP commitment.
3ality Digital was awarded for its stereo image processor (SIP); Autodesk for Maya and its application in 3D visual effects; Dolby Laboratories for its “Dolby 3D” system; Steve Hines and Walt Disney Studios for their dual rig proposal; Nvidia for 3D Vision; 3D MasterImage for its 3D digital cinema system; Quantel for Pablo color correction and finishing solution; Sassoon Films Design for the design of their 2D to 3D converter; and XPandD for its Active 3D system. The society also wanted to recognize the boost that studios such as Sony Pictures Imageworks and The Walt Disney Studios have given to 3D.
Chris Condon was awarded the Charles M. Brewster Lifetime Achievement Award. Condon, who has been working on research related to stereoscopy for more than half a century, is the first person to receive the lifetime achievement award.
Buzz Hays, president of the Society and 3D executive producer of the Sony 3D Technology Center commented at the ceremony that "these innovators are helping the next generation of creatives. Without them, we, as creators, would not have the bright future in 3D like the one we are presented with."
