Panasonic's DVCPRO HD codec will be the official recording format for the London 2012 Games
Panasonic Corporation announced at NAB 2011 that Panasonic's DVCPRO HD codec will be the official recording format at the London Olympics. Olympic Broadcasting Services London (OBSL) will also use the P2 HD series solid-state memory cards and the P2 AG-HPD24 portable recorder to support the broadcast of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Panasonic Corporation, Official Worldwide Olympic Partner in the Audio and Visual Equipment category for the London 2012 Olympic Games, announced at NAB 2011 that Panasonic's DVCPRO HD codec will be the official recording format for recording the event. Olympic Broadcasting Services London (OBSL), the main broadcaster, will also use the P2 HD series solid-state memory cards for its video recording equipment, including the P2HD AJ-HPX3100 camera and the P2 AG-HPD24 portable recorder to support the broadcast of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The London 2012 Olympic Games will be the tenth Olympic Games in which Panasonic digital technologies will be used as the official recording format since the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games. The official international video will be produced and distributed from the International Broadcast Center (IBC) in the London Olympic Park, in HD 1080/50i format, during the 19 days of sporting competition with more than 640 sessions, more than 300 events, in the 39 disciplines of the 26 sports on the London 2012 Olympic Games programme, and is expected to offer spectacular images of the world's largest sporting event to billions of viewers around the planet.

We also expect OBSL to test our latest professional format AVC-Intra 100 based on the latest H.264 technology which will realize a better quality image in recording and broadcast to homes in the future.”
