The skyline of São Paulo (Brazil) has changed with the spectacular lighting of the communications tower in the Avenida Paulista area. Designed by Peter Gasper, a specialist in projects of this genre, in this case it has used almost 30,000 LEDs capable of offering 16 million shades of color.

A total of 29,824 LEDs capable of offering up to 16 million shades of color now illuminate the popular communications tower on Paulista Avenue in São Paulo (Brazil). The tower, which was erected fifteen years ago, will now display a spectacular light assembly designed by Peter Gasper, a specialist in projects of this genre. The installation will allow the color of the tower to be customized to coincide with special events in the city such as Christmas or carnival.

In the project, Gasper has had the artistic programming of Fábio Ribeiro and the technical support of Valdomiro Viana, using Philips LEDs. Gasper pointed out that "we work with three different light systems for the body of the tower, the antennas that form a kind of spear and the effect lighting installed along the tower, allowing variations in color and intensity."

The 650-tonne metal tower has undergone an intense renovation in recent years that has involved painting, installing lighting, defining colors and lighting tests. The decorative effect can be seen from five kilometers away.

The 212-meter-high structure emits radio and television signals from the Bandeirantes Group.

Sustainability was a very important point in the development of the project. “We opted for LED technology to save energy,” said Gasper.
