Filming of 'Brain Drain 2' begins

This Monday, June 13, and for seven weeks, the 'Brain Drain 2' team has begun filming the second installment of one of the Spanish comedies that performed best at the box office in 2009 with more than seven million euros in revenue.

From the same creators of the first installment, Álex Pina and Curro Velázquez, Antena 3 Films, Globomedia Cine and Cangrejo Films have started filming this week on Brain Drain 2. Fernando González, director of Brain drain and of 3 meters above the sky goes on to executive production alongside Pina and Velázquez. Carlos Therón, who caused a sensation with the short film Undaunted, will direct this new installment that has an exceptional cast made up of: Adrián Lastra, Patricia Montero, Alberto Amarilla, Gorka Lasaosa, Canco Rodríguez, Pablo Penedo and the film debut of Paula Prendes.

The film will be shot in locations in the Community of Madrid and Cantabria until July 29.

The first installment of Brain Drain surpassed one million viewers, with more than 7 million euros raised and was the Audience Award at the 2009 Malaga Festival. Now, Brain Drain 2 is the peculiar vision of the world and its possibilities of five teenage friends, five misfits, a blind man, a gypsy, a cripple, a compulsive shy man and a leader with little brain, who despite not being paragons of virtue, believe that everything is possible in the life... the trick is in the plans they put together to achieve it.

It is distributed by Universal Pictures and is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 2, 2011.
