Caucasus Online, the largest operator in Georgia that controls 60% of the country's Internet services, has adopted Teracue ENC-200 H264 encoders for its new IPTV services.
The audio and video encoders are being used for IPTV's online IPTV project to obtain SDI signals from local television stations and to ingest the live video stream into the ISPs' FTTB network.
H264 encoders are used for television contribution, making different television signals available to users through IPTV.
A total of fourteen H264 encoders have installed Caucasus in a distributed ISP network configuration that effectively guarantees the service and its redundancy.
These encoders have been chosen to work alongside direct ingest from Motorola's IPTV-based system without any processing. Their choice also responds to the fact of their small compact size and the absence of a fan, in addition to the fact that they are compatible with many different encoding sources, since there are still some small television stations that operate only with CVBS and where SDI cannot be used. As the H264 encoder supports all sources by default, there is no need for converters or different encoder models.
