Teracue MC-Screen solves HD distribution in shopping centers

Teracue's MC-Screen encoding system allows live television or video-on-demand signals to be sent simultaneously to all high-definition screens distributed in shopping centers.

Xplace, a German company specialized in digital point-of-sale information systems, has just implemented a network with Teracue MC-Screen encoders to distribute digital signals with high-definition advertising messages to hundreds of LCD and plasma screens distributed in Mediamarkt and Saturn stores in the Netherlands.

These screens receive live television signals, and can play video on demand on all TV equipment in high HD quality.

This is done using a video distribution system based on an IP network. Thus, a live video in a single stream can be sent to any number of devices.

The production and management of content distributed over the IPTV network is carried out with the Scala digital signage system.

The MC-Screen encoder software captures the signal, converts it into a high-definition Full HD stream and sends it to the network in multicast. Already in the stores, through IPTV set top boxes such as Aminet 130 and 140 from Amino, the signal is resumed.

In this case, MC-Screen is installed directly on Scala HD digital signage players. As the MC-Screen encoder is connected directly to the Scala player, and since it is pure software encoding, a complete flow can be implemented cost-effectively.
