Elena Pisonero will be in charge of Hispasat
Elena Pisonero will take over the presidency of the Spanish satellite operator, Hispasat, replacing Petra Mateos, who at the end of February presented her resignation from the position.
The board of directors of Hispasat has already appointed the former Secretary of State for Commerce, Tourism and SMEs, Elena Pisonero, as a director, as a prior step to her appointment as president.
Under the shareholders' agreement in force at the satellite operator, the publicly owned partners appoint the president, while Abertis appoints the CEO, a position held by Carlos Espídos.
The change in the presidency of Hispasat will thus be registered weeks after the infrastructure concessions group increased its direct participation in the company to 46% and strengthened itself as the largest shareholder, by purchasing the 13.23% percentage that Telefónica held until then.
The total participation (direct and indirect) of the group controlled by CaixaBank, ACS and CVC rises to 48%. Abertis has a 16% stake in the European satellite operator Euteltat, which, in turn, is the second largest shareholder of Hispasat, with 28% of the capital.
In addition to Abertis and Eutelsat, the rest of Hispasat's partners are public organizations, which add up to 25.7% of its shareholders.
Specifically, the National Institute of Aerospace Technology (INTA) has 16.42% of Hispasat, the SEPI another 7.41%, and the Center for Technological and Industrial Development (CDTI), the remaining 1.86%.
With a degree in Economic Sciences from the Autonomous University of Madrid, Pisonero has been a partner at KPMG since 2005 and is deputy to the president in Spain of this company.
