The new camcorder in Sony's NEX range has more than enviable features for low-cost productions, such as 4K recording and super-slow motion modes at 10x in Full HD or 40x for lower resolutions.

Sony will present at NAB 2012 the new NEX-FS700, a camera halfway between the FS-100 and the F3 with which it intends to meet the push that Canon is achieving with its C300.

Although the new camera is based on a 4K Exmor Super 35mm sensor, everything seems to indicate that, initially, Sony will launch it after NAB without native 4K support, later adding it in a firmware update reaching, in all likelihood, RAW over SDI. To work at 4K it will be necessary to use an optional recorder.

In addition to HD SDI, the camera offers HDMI output, both at 1080p/50 and 1080p/60. Also in 60i, 24, 25 and 30p with timecode and embedded audio. 3G HD SDI connection adds 23.98; 25 and 29.97 in progressive signals, along with selectable PsF possibility.

One of the most striking features is the inclusion of super-slow motion modes, allowing recordings at 120FPS/240 fps in 1080p mode and an impressive mode of no less than 960 fps in 480p mode.

Equipped with integrated ND filters, SD and MemoryStick card slots, and 3G HD-SDI outputs, this camera will accept E-mounts, allowing you to use any SLR and DSLR lens thanks to the use of simple adapters.
