Studer, belonging to the Harman group, will attend NAB with various innovations, among which the new Studer Vista 1 Compact digital console stands out, which presents a compact and low-cost configuration.

Spearheading the collection of new products from Studer at NAB 2012, the Studer Vista 1 Compact is a Studer Vista console with a compact, low-cost configuration that will surprise many engineers. The new table comes with an integral chassis, with control surface, I/O connections and DSP all integral, which considerably reduces weight and footprint. The new desktop fits perfectly into both fixed and portable systems such as newsrooms and quizzes, while its compact size makes it a natural choice for OB and ENG units.

Vista 1 is largely based on Vista 5, so current Vista users will be fully familiar with all the functionality of the Vistonics user interface and Studer Vista control surface, plus features such as broadcast monitoring, intercom, red light control, GPIO, N-x (Mix Minus) buses, instant automation and DAW control.

With a built-in 96-channel DSP engine, the View 1 can easily handle mono, stereo and 5.1 inputs, and features 32 mic/line inputs, 16 line outputs, and eight stereo AES inputs and outputs on the rear panel connections. 32-fader and 22-fader models are available.

Expanded connectivity

The I/O can be expanded using the standard Studer D21m card slot located on the rear, to allow MADI, AES, AoIP, ADAT, TDIF, CobraNet, Dolby E/Digital, SDI, etc. connections. A MADI link can be connected to any of the Studer stage boxes for XLR connectivity as well as other formats.

A new element present in the Vista 1 that is a first for the Vista family is a comprehensive jingle player, played from audio files on a USB jingle memory (such as a station ID or a background FX), and triggered by a series of eight specific keys in the master section.

The Studer Vista 1 also features a redundant power supply for “peace of mind”, and Relink integration with other Studer Vista and OnAir consoles means the Vista 1 can easily share signals over a console network.

Other new Studer products on display at NAB include a new Vista Compact remote bay, a Lexicon effects engine, the MT7 RTW metering option for Vista consoles, the Ember broadcast and news automation control protocol, and a Livewire AoIP card for the D21m system.
