EVS Broadcast Equipment has announced the appointment of Joop Janssen as President and CEO of the company.

Joop Janssen will be the new CEO of September EVS. Janssen (52) has more than 25 years of experience in the broadcast, professional audio and telecommunications industries.

He was most recently CEO of VITEC Videocom. During his nine years with VITEC Videocom he drove significant profitable growth and brand expansion. Prior to that, he was vice president and general manager of Philips Broadcast (formerly BTS) North America, where he was instrumental in the successful sale to Thomson Multimedia and the group's subsequent acquisition by Grass Valley.

Janssen has a master's degree in Electronic Engineering from the Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands).

Pierre Rion, Chairman of the Board of Directors of EVS, stated that "this is a very important step in the growth of the company. EVS will undoubtedly benefit from his experience of managing companies in different cultures, a deep knowledge of the broadcast industry and his strong personality. We are very happy to have Joop with us."

Originally from the Heerlen-Maastricht region of the Netherlands, Joop Janssen is currently based in the United Kingdom. He will take office as CEO of EVS as of September 3, 2012 following the extraordinary general meeting of shareholders to be held at the end of August.
