Filmin selects Accedo to extend the OTT service to various platforms
The video-on-demand subscription service Filmin and Accedo close an alliance to develop applications for the next generation of Smart TV for multiple platforms.
I'm coming, a television application solutions provider, and Filmin, a Spanish video-on-demand subscription service, have announced a partnership to develop applications for the next generation of Smart TVs for multiple platforms.
The official application launched for the first time in collaboration with Samsung SmartTV allows users access to a catalog of 2,900 videos.
The two companies are also working together to develop the next generation of video on demand (VOD) applications for other platforms, and are expected to launch in 2012 and 2013, across a number of different devices.
Michael Lantz, CEO of Accedo, was delighted to “work with Filmin to launch their OTT service on additional platforms, offering consumers other ways to access Filmin from the comfort of their living room.”
For his part, Jerónimo Macanas, vice president for Southern Europe and Latin America at Accedo, stated that "Filmin was the first OTT service in Spain to launch a truly attractive offer based on a subscription model. Enjoying Filmin's movie subscription service in a living room is the television experience that Spanish consumers have been waiting for for a long time."
"Smart TV opens up a world of opportunities to engage with the customer in a new and exciting way, as well as to extend our reach into the living room. Accedo was a natural choice to collaborate with us on this project, given their extensive experience around the world in this field."
