Wisi Chameleon: a headend with infinite software-enabled possibilities

Wisi presents the Chameleon series, a unique and universal hardware headend with infinite features, enabled by software. This new line of products covers practically all the needs of cable TV and SMATV distribution with a single hardware module.

It's hanging has presented Chameleon, an innovative solution for radio and television signal processing. This new product line is the first to cover practically all the needs of cable TV operators, as well as RF and IPTV signal processing system integrators, with just a single hardware module.

The different inputs and outputs of the new equipment are basically defined by software options, which can be updated at any time.

Chameleon is extremely flexible. It integrates universal receivers for the DVB-S/S2/T/T2/C standards, as well as allowing the decoding of MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 video formats and the latest AAC-HE and Dolby Digital AC-3 sound standards.

With just one click of the mouse, you can remultiplex the various input signals, coming from both DVB receivers, the two ASI inputs and the GigE IPTV interface. The interconnection between various modules through the IPTV interface increases the system's processing capacity, facilitating flexible remultiplexing between the various signals generated in any of the head-end modules.

Adaptation to the environment

The Chameleon product line is made up of SW functions, always defined under a single HW platform. All software functions of these products can be modified and updated at any time, without the need to change the installed hardware.

The market is experiencing an accelerated pace of change and development. To facilitate investment decisions, Wisi has developed a platform flexible enough to meet all imaginable needs.

On the other hand, Chameleon products are multi-functional, where each unit is capable of supporting all types of processing. This distributed processing architecture allows you to create any size installation or even apply it to the expansion of an existing installation.
Furthermore, this line allows you to go from one distribution system to another, with just one click of the computer mouse, turning it into a transformable header.

Applications

Applications required for the user's network can be purchased at any time, depending on their needs. For example, the user may want to start with digital reception and analog distribution. At any time afterward, you can upgrade to digital distribution.
On the other hand, you can also create your own program packages, decrypt and/or encrypt them with the user's own encryption system. If you prefer to distribute in IP format, through the integrated IPTV Streamer, just a few clicks of the mouse are needed. And the distribution in QAM, COFDM or analog modes is very simple.

The user manages his headend through the web interface and, in this way, can manage, control and modify the functionalities from any place where he has an IP connection, whether on the PDA phone, PC or other devices connected to the Internet. This way of upgrading existing hardware is effective in saving costs and time. Additionally, it allows for a friendly environment and last (but not least) enables your customers and installers to have a positive feeling about your CATV or SMATV.

Finally, other characteristics of the Chameleon line are compact equipment (a complete headend for 200 programs with reception, decoding and modulation of 20 multiplexes in 3U 19”); low energy consumption (all products are designed by Wisi to generate the least possible heat, which has positive effects on the environment and on the lifespan of the equipment itself.
