The Belgian Proximus updates its video header with Ateme
The complete Titan Proximus software solution will enable Proximus to deliver the highest quality video at minimum bitrates and implement intelligent advertising.
Proximus, one of the largest telecommunications companies in Belgium, is updating its video headend based on Atem with the complete Titan software solution delivering the highest video quality with minimum bit rates for cable, DTT and DTH. Ateme's “building block” approach offers even more flexibility, as software modules can be combined as needed: any input/output, codec and resolution, from an encoder to a video headend in a box.
Thierry Demoor, head of applications and platforms services at Proximus, highlights that "Ateme's headend offers various resolutions, from low profile to UHD profile, as well as multiple codecs (H264 / HEVC) within the same platform. This approach will lead to significant CAPEX and OPEX savings for Proximus. However, the main argument for choice was the simple upgrade path that Ateme offers with this future-proof solution. We can easily process H.264 “SD and HD from the same hardware. The next phases of 4K-UHD with HDR, HFR, WCG will be enabled efficiently, depending on the use case we want to address, and we can offer HD HEVC to customers who only benefit from SD today.”
For his part, Christophe Deffontaines, sales director of Ateme, has assured that "Titan is the ideal solution for the maintenance of main and multi-screen applications. The solution also supports intelligent services that will allow Proximus to implement intelligent advertising."
