'The Hobbit' will be mixed in Dolby Atmos

Mixing in the new Dolby Atmos sound will offer a more natural and realistic soundtrack that distributes the sound around and above the audience, helping to transport the viewer to the world of Middle Earth.

Dolby Laboratories y Park Road Post Production have announced that the sound of director Peter Jackson's film, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, una producción de New Line Cinema y Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM), será mezclado en Dolby Atmos para ofrecer una banda sonora más natural y realista que distribuya el sonido alrededor y por encima del público, ayudando a transportar al espectador al mundo de la Tierra Media.

Dolby Atmos es una nueva plataforma de audio que revoluciona la experiencia del sonido en el entretenimiento. Permite a los diseñadores y mezcladores de sonido poder alcanzar un nuevo nivel de control creativo y asegura que el público cinematográfico experimente el impacto total de la mezcla de sonido independientemente de la configuración de la sala de cine.

Peter Jackson, co-escritor, director y productor de la trilogía The Hobbit, has commented that "I strive to make films that allow the audience to be part of the events that appear on the screen, rather than simply watching them unfold. Natural realism

Oscar winners Christopher Boyes, Michael Hedges, and Michael Semanick (The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King) will mix the film's sound in Dolby Atmos at the Park Road post-production studio.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey comes to theaters with this Dolby technology, audiences will be taken on the journey with the same natural realism that the creative team envisioned.”

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey y la segunda y la tercera película de la trilogía son producciones de New Line Cinema y Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, y la producción general está a cargo de New Line. Warner Bros. Pictures se encarga de la distribución en las salas a nivel mundial, mientras que ciertos territorios internacionales y toda la distribución en la televisión internacional está a cargo de MGM.
