'Godzilla' will be mixed in Dolby Atmos
The Dolby Atmos version of Godzilla will be mixed at Warner Bros. Studio 10 in Burbank, California. The film will hit US theaters on May 16, 2014.
Godzilla, directed by Gareth Edwards, will be mixed and released in Dolby Atmos. The film, from Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures, will hit US theaters on May 16, 2014.
Edwards highlighted that "Godzilla is one of the most iconic monsters in the world. I am very happy to be able to use Dolby Atmos to bring this terrifying force of nature to life."
The Dolby Atmos version of Godzilla will be mixed at Warner Bros. Studio 10 in Burbank, California by Oscar-winning sound mixer Gregg Landaker (sound effects). Fellow award-winning sound mixer Rick Kline will work on the music mix with Tim LeBlanc on dialogue. Sound specialist Erik Aadahl, also nominated for an Academy Award, will direct the sound design and act as supervisory sound editor.
"By using Dolby Atmos technology to place sounds anywhere in the room, Gareth Edwards and his team will be able to recreate the world of Godzilla in an incredible way, making the audience feel like they are also in the center of the action. Dolby Atmos represents a complete break with traditional channels such as 5.1, 7.1, and 11.1. Thanks to this new approach that is based on objects, movies are no longer seen, they are lived!" Darrow, senior vice president, Cinema, Dolby Laboratories.
