Uneven coverage of the general strike on television
Private television broadcasts normally, while public television broadcasts reruns and news programs, except for Telemadrid with an “adjustment letter.”
The general strike called by the union centers this November 14 has mainly affected public television stations with the total suspension of broadcasting in the case of Telemadrid, which throughout the day has broadcast an image of its headquarters in the City of the Image with a label explaining the suspension of the usual broadcast due to the strike.
The rest of the regional broadcasters have modified their programming, reducing the duration of their news programs and rebroadcasting programs without advertising.
In the case of RTVE, according to UGT, only the minimum services have attended the workplace, which affects 15% of the workforce. The rest of the regional channels have altered their programming early in the day, issuing notices of programming changes due to the general strike.
With respect to the private ones, both Antena 3 and Mediaset have barely seen the usual programming of their channels altered.
