Harris and EIG offered a technical seminar in Guatemala
In a conference, organized by Harris and EIG in Guatemala City, the Selenio media convergence platform and the new Versio solution are demonstrated.
Following the line of the seminars that Harris has been offering throughout the region, where the Selenio media convergence platform and the new Versio solution stand out, Harris Broadcast Communications and Company of Guatemalan Engineers (EIG) of the ITEL Central America Group, organized a Technical Seminar a few days ago at the Real Intercontinental Hotel in Guatemala City.
With a very good call, in the morning session, Eutdel García presented the solutions focused on Television Studies: Processing, Routers, Servers, Multiviewers, Master Control, Graphics, Editors, Instrumentation and Measurement, Loudness Control, Quality Control, the new product Versio, Selenio and MAM (Invenio), and in the afternoon session, Carlos Lira presented the standards and structure of ISDB-Tb, and the portfolio of transmitters ULX, UAX, VLX and VAX from Harris.
On Harris' behalf, the Regional Sales Manager Juanchy Mejía, and the speakers Carlos Lira and Eutdel García, both Pre-Sales Engineers, attended; and on behalf of EIG and Grupo ITEL Centroamérica were José Raúl Gómez and Carlos Durando, both directors of the ITEL Group, and Oscar Urbina and Maynor Tobías, both EIG project engineers.
Juanchy Mejía, Harris Regional Sales Manager, commented that "Guatemala is in a planning and decision-making stage regarding the digital format they will adopt in the future. Harris supports the Broadcasters of Guatemala and is being present in the face of these new challenges. Harris has the absolute trust of important television, radio and telecommunications companies in Guatemala, and this seminar shows once again that working hand in hand with them we achieve better results."
For his part, Carlos Durando, director of the ITEL Group, assured that "in Central America the digitization of Television is lagging behind the rest of the world. It is a fact that this technology is beneficial and allows for the introduction of important quality improvements, new services, and a much more efficient use of the radio spectrum. Therefore, it is advisable for regulatory entities to formalize as soon as possible the standards that will govern our countries, preferably in a homogeneous manner throughout the region. Likewise, it is advisable to “Companies in the sector plan the migration of their studios to digital technology in the short term, which does not depend on the standard that is adopted. And then in the medium term, prepare their transmission plants (telecasting) for the analog blackout that will arrive sooner rather than later.”
