Hunan TV breaks into steroscopy with Quantel
The Chinese broadcaster opts for Enterprise sQ for its quality and speed in 3D processes.
Hunan TV, one of the main Chinese broadcasters dedicated to entertainment, has just acquired its third Enterprise sQ from Quantel for the development of stereoscopic productions.
The division of the giant Hunan Broadcasting Group has been a Quantel customer since 2008, when the broadcaster opted to acquire two Quantel Enterprise sQs for the production of entertainment programs. Subsequently, in 2010, Hunan TV significantly increased its HD workflow.
The new Enterprise sQ system handles 3D media ingestion, editing and production in a fully integrated workflow. The third Enterprise sQ will allow Hunan TV to produce 3D content with maximum agility in accordance with new regulations for China's largest broadcasters.
Rulin Gong, director of Hunan TV, admits that "the television industry in China is very competitive, so we needed a high-quality and reliable system to deliver excellent results for our large audience. We chose Quantel Enterprise sQ, as its video quality is much better than other systems. With Enterprise sQ, the workflow is much faster, being able to go on air in record time in a fully collaborative work environment that allows us to produce a large amount of 3D content in a very short space of time. It is noteworthy that editors can work simultaneously on different sections of a program, so our response time is much faster.”
For his part, Martin Mulligan, Sales Director of Quantel, commented that "Hunan TV offers high-quality entertainment programs to an audience of more than 880 million viewers. We are delighted that Hunan TV has once again chosen Quantel to deliver its impressive content to this gigantic audience."
