The transmission speed achieved is twenty times that currently offers commercial systems, and would be discharged from 40 HD videos in a second.

Fiber optic

Huawei, together with the European Vodafone operator, has announced the success of a pilot test for fiber optic transmission to 2 terabits per second in the Vodafone Live network. This experience, carried out at more than 3,325 kilometers, opens the door to the transmission of data at a speed of up to 20 times the capacity of the systems currently commercially available at 100 GBIT/s, which would be equivalent to a discharge speed equivalent to 40 HD videos in a second. This marks an important step for the progress of optical transmission technology beyond 100g.

Traffic in the trunk networks of service suppliers is growing exponentially, stimulating 100g commercial deployment and calling attention to optical transmission beyond 100g.

Taking advantage of innovative technologies such as flex ODSP, Super SD-MEC and FDE Flexible Ormato modulation, this field test has achieved a record for a transmission distance of 1,500 km with a spectral high efficiency solution based on PDM-16qam super-channel PDM-QPSK. Both transmissions occurred in a link with G.652 fibers and EDFA fiber amplifiers without electrical regeneration. The link used in this test was the spine of the Vodafone network, through some cities in the center and southern Germany.

Jack Wang, president of the Huawei Transmission Products line, stressed that “we are in the leadership of the 100G global deployments and we assume leadership in the provision of innovations in key technologies beyond 100g. Through collaboration with Vodafone and other international operators with great weight of R&D, Huawei is always willing to create advanced optical networks for their customers.

To help customers optimize their general technical architectures and adopt the new generation of dissemination networks, Huawei conducted the world's first field test for 2T WDM and a 400G PAN-European field test in 2012, and reveal a series of achievements in scientific research for optical transmission. According to Ovum, Huawei leads the ranking of WDM / OTN, 40G, 100G and optical networks in the third quarter of 2012.
